This is a 100% Robusta coffee from the island of Flores, Indonesia. Following the successes with Speciality Robusta in Ecuador and India, This Side Up and ASNIKOM (a local cooperative in Manggarai) are working together to process this fine robusta on the same way as arabica speciality beans. This can be done because an additional premium for the beans is paid.
This year’s crop is coming from three families from the village Rende Nao (Indonesia-Flores). While last years crop was sourced from multiple sources in Manggarai.
The coffee beans are picked by hand, after which the peel is taken from the berry, but the flesh remains. The berries are then dried in the sun on raised tables, after which they are peeled and packed.
