Peru Gracias a Dios
This year we have bought, Gracias a Dios, a different coffee from JUMARP. We found the flavour of this coffee better than the El Palto we have had for years.
This coffee is a blend of different farmers who grow their coffee in the Amazon rainforest. This part is known as “Selva Alta” (High Forest). Selva Alta has a uniquely dense and humid rainforest located high in the mountains (between 1,500 and 1,800 meters), ideal for growing speciality coffee.
The coffee is picked by hand and dried on raised beds. This is a washed coffee, which means that the pulp is removed from the beans before drying.
All coffee grown by the members of the JUMARP cooperative is organic. This coffee too, only this coffee is not certified organic. We asked Majorie from JUMARP why they do this and this is her answer:
“We can do that, because the coffee is organic, so we can sell it as organic or even conventional (without the organic tc), this because we are including on every coffee organic price we sell the organic prima”
We are buying this coffee through the Algrano platform. This platform is bringing growers and roasters in contact with each other.
